Why it's Different

A flat dog bed gives your dog a soft surface. It doesn't give them what they're actually looking for when they curl up somewhere with walls, under a table, or wedged into a gap. Enclosure.

The Den's raised rim is the entire design. A dog curls in and their back is against something, their head is supported, and nothing is behind them. Some dogs burrow under the rim, some hook their chin over it. Both mean the dog has chosen to be enclosed, which is the whole point, and the thing a flat mat can't offer no matter how soft it is.

Between sizes? Size up. The rim takes up more room than it looks like it will, and dogs settle deeper when they can curl without pressing into the sides. The supplier says the same thing, and they're right.

Sized by curl, not by length. Dogs who sprawl flat rather than curl may prefer a size up or a flat mat.

How to Use

Place it in a quiet corner, not the middle of the room. Dogs settle into enclosed spaces, not exposed ones. Location matters as much as the bed itself.

It arrives flat. The Den ships vacuum-compressed to keep shipping affordable. Open it and give it a few hours. The rim will take full shape within a day. This is completely normal, not a fault.

Shake and fluff the rim by hand once it's out of the packaging to help it along.

Especially useful for the first weeks with a rescue, senior dogs who need head and neck support, night-time beside your bed or inside a crate under the Den Cover, and storms or fireworks when your dog needs somewhere to retreat to.

My Den arrived flat and misshapen. Is it defective?

No, this is normal. It ships vacuum-compressed to keep shipping costs down. Give it a few hours after unboxing, shake and fluff the rim by hand, and it will reach full shape within a day.

Can I wash the whole thing, including the rim?

Yes. It's machine washable whole, cold cycle, tumble dry low. Wash it separately from other laundry.

Will it work inside a crate?

Yes. It fits well inside a crate, especially paired with the Den Cover over the top for a fully enclosed, den-like space.

My dog doesn't curl up. Will this still work for them?

Possibly not as well. The Den is sized by curl, not by length. A dog who sprawls flat rather than curling may be more comfortable in a size up, or may do better with a flat mat instead.
